POSITION: Director of Children and Early Teen Ministry
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Seminary training; Master Degree in Christian Education or equivalent.
Doctrine:
Theological position must be consistent with our doctrinal
statement: "What We Believe" and "The
Baptist Faith and Message" as stated in the Southern Baptist Declaration of
Faith, June 2000.
Experience:
- preferably a minimum of 2 years children's ministry experience in North America.
Language: English speaking
Marital Status: Single or married. Maintains a strong family relationship. If married, preferably with experience in raising children. Spouse and children are supportive of the minister's ministry.
Family Values: A
Scripturally healthy family, (Psa. 78:3-8; 1 Tim. 3:1-7; Tit. 1:5-9).
Spiritual Maturity:
Teach and live accordingly; love and compassion
toward others (especially toward the children and their families), as well as sensitivity toward the needs and
feelings of the entire congregation; teachable. (1 Tim. 3:1-7; 2 Tim. 2:24-25).
Interpersonal skills:
A healthy personality and on that gets along well with others and commands respect; and ability to work in a multi-staff culture.
PREFERENCES:
- Ability to interface with Chinese
culture,
- Ability to give counsel (parents and children) and direct them to others more qualified,
- Willingness to consider a long-term
commitment.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Children and Early Teen Ministry will serve as a spiritual leader and shepherd; shall strive to
integrate children and early teen ministry into the overall total church life; and will work as a part of
the pastoral staff to coordinate the children and early teem ministry under the direction of the Pastor-in-Charge or his designate.
General Responsibilities
- Responsible
for the development, organization, coordination, and review of the children and early teen ministries (Nursery through Junior High),
- Sunday school, Children's Worship, Children's Prayer Meeting, Church Training, discipleship, Children and Youth Bible Drill, fellowships, and camps
- Develop,
implement and apply the church vision to the children and early teen ministries,
- Attend
Pastoral Staff meetings, Officers' meetings, Quarter/Special Business
meetings and other church meetings as needed
- Communicate the concerns and needs of
individual children or early teens to the families and church leaders.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Develop
a strategy for the children and early teen ministry in the area of
worship, Sunday School, evangelism, visitation, and counseling.
- Recruit, train, coordinate, and oversee the leadership team for the
children and early teen ministry, with special emphasis in developing team
cohesiveness and the mutual feeling and caring of team members,
- Recommend appropriate curriculum for children and early teen ministry in the area of Bible teaching, discipleship, discipline, and personal evangelism.
- Oversee and manage Child Safe Policy.
- Oversee budgeting and fund-raising events to children and early teen events.
- Prepare and present Bible-based, life-relevant teachings for the children and early teens.
- Outreach
to new children and early teens, and their families, when evangelistic
opportunities arise,
- Visit
with children and early teens, and their families, especially in times
of crisis,
- Recognize,
develop and utilize the spiritual gifts of early teens as ministry opportunities arise.
